Our fundamental rights come with a coating of responsibilities in the form of duties.Voting, among them is one of the key duties ,establishes the ground for the country's growth.
From my previous blog(http://thedistractednation.blogspot.com/ ),it is evident that the foundation of our country has to be given priority. It is the leader of the country who will guide us in our growth as a Nation. It is therefore, our duty to see that the leader is appropriate and qualified enough to lead the Nation.
While a lot of people are still unaware about their voting rights, some educated people do not see the point of voting for any candidate as they are all almost the same in their approach to the country's development.
The constitution of our country, according to section '49- O' ,as per the 1969 act , declares that a person can go to a polling booth, confirm his identity and inform the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote for anyone.
In this kind of a scenario, if a winning candidate has more '49-O' votes than that of his winning number of votes,then the polling will be canceled and will have to be re-polled. Also, the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot stand for the re-polling because the citizens have already taken a decision against the candidates.
This section may be a breath of fresh air,but it comes with a lot of responsibilities.While we are giving the '49-O' vote, we should be aware about all the candidates and use it only when necessary.
A lot of people are still unaware about the '49-O' vote and its power.We can choose our leader and also remove them. It is our decision and as adults it is our responsibility to make such decisions, especially in matters concerning the growth and development of our country.It is us who can bring light to issues that have not been given its due importance and so it is us who have to appeal to this cause by simply starting with our fundamental duty-Voting!
